The Kitchen Nippon Autumn Festival is coming up on Sunday, October 25. Come and see what’s on offer at the open-air market, participate in Japanese cooking workshops, and enjoy the atmosphere of early 20th century Tokyo.
Ueno Sakuragi Atari, located in Yanaka – one of the oldest, most unique neighborhoods in Tokyo – is the venue for this event. Originally constructed as private homes, the buildings comprising Ueno Sakuragi Atari, retain all of the character of 1930s Tokyo and are a wonderful location for gaining a sense of both change and continuity in one corner of Japanese culture.
October 25, by the way, is also the final day of the Yanaka Geikōten, an annual event in which Yanaka itself becomes a gallery where professionals and amateurs alike put their art and craftworks on display throughout the neighborhood for any and all who would like to view them. So come out to Yanaka on Sunday, October 25, stop in at a few of the Geikōten galleries on the way to Ueno Sakuragi Atari, and then enjoy the market, cooking workshops, and atmosphere of the Kitchen Nippon Autumn Festival. What better way could there be to spend an autumn day in Tokyo!
