Sake, through the craft of its making and its enjoyment, go to the heart of Japanese food culture, and Kitchen Nippon is holding workshops for those who want to begin learning about this magnificent beverage.

In the first workshop, we’ll teach some sake basics and provide tips to help you navigate your way to understanding sake and finding ones you love. We’ll get you started down that path with tastings of four sakes that distinguish themselves with distinctly different aromas and flavors. We’ll also teach some basics on selecting foods for adding dimensions to your enjoyment of sake.

The venue will be in an old house five minutes by foot from Nippori Station and a minute from Yanaka Ginza. Seating will be traditional style – on the floor, with cushions.

Time: April 5, 2020 (Sun.) 15:00~16:30
Cost: 6000 yen (Material and facility usage fee)
Location: Detailed directions to the venue will be provided to those who apply to participate.

Deadline: April 2, 2020 (Thu.) 11:00 AM

Leading the workshop will be Yukiko Yajima, a sake sommelier and professional cooking instructor.
Yukiko Yajima
After 10 years working in a white-collar environment, Yukiko decided to quit her job and devote herself to her passion for cooking. She became a licensed culinary professional and took up her new career as a cooking instructor. Five years later, she relocated to the UK, where she spent eight years absorbing a different culture and expanding her knowledge of food. Her experience in the UK also opened her eyes to the strong interest in Japanese food outside Japan. Since coming home, Yukiko has focused on teaching people from other countries how to prepare Japanese dishes at home.
